Your financial data is sensitive, and we treat it that way. This Privacy Policy explains what Cento collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Cento is published by Unkra Inc., which is responsible for your personal information under this policy.
This policy applies to the Cento app and the centomoney.com website. Cento is currently offered to users in the United States and Canada and is intended for people 16 and older. Unkra Inc. is the business responsible for (the "controller" of) the personal information described here. You can contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@centomoney.com or Unkra Inc., 400 Walmer Rd #1809, Toronto, ON M5P 2X7, Canada.
What we do not collect. Cento has no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not collect your precise location (we do not read the location data Plaid can provide), your contacts, camera, photos, health data, or any advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
We use your information solely to provide and operate the Service: to sign you in, import and display your transactions and balances, compute your budget and net worth, share shared-account data within your household, send the notifications you enable, process your subscription, provide support, keep the Service secure, and meet our legal obligations. We rely on your information to perform our agreement with you and, where the law requires it, on your consent (which you can withdraw). We do not sell your personal information, we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Accounts you mark as shared — and their transactions — are visible to other members of your household. Accounts you mark as private are visible only to you and don't count toward the shared budget, unless you explicitly share an individual transaction from one, which makes only that transaction (never the account's balance or its other transactions) visible to your household. You control this and can change it at any time. Note that when you assign a transaction to another member (the "Was this you?" feature), that member receives a notification that includes your display name and email address so they know who asked.
We share personal information with a small number of service providers who process it on our behalf to run the Service. They are permitted to use it only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Plaid Inc. (US) | Secure bank connectivity and transaction/balance data (Plaid's Transactions product only). | The connection you authorize and a token that lets us sync your accounts. Your bank credentials go to Plaid, not to us. |
| Hanko (US) | Passwordless authentication (passkeys and email one-time codes). | Your email address and authentication activity. |
| Cloudflare, Inc. (US) | Hosting, database storage, delivery, and operational logging for our API and website. | All data you store in Cento, plus technical logs used to run and secure the Service. |
| Apple Inc. (US) | App Store distribution, push-notification delivery, and subscription billing. | Push tokens and notification content; your subscription purchase (payment is handled by Apple — we don't see your card). |
| Frankfurter / European Central Bank | Daily reference foreign-exchange rates for multi-currency conversion. | No personal information — we request only currency and date, never your data. |
Your Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest and never leave our servers. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will require the recipient to honour this policy.
Unkra Inc. is based in Canada, and our service providers described above are primarily located in the United States. This means your personal information is processed in, and transferred to, the United States and may be accessible to authorities there under applicable law. When we transfer personal information across borders, we use providers bound by contractual and security commitments to protect it. If you are in Canada, by using the Service you understand that your information will be stored and processed in the United States.
We protect your information with encryption in transit (TLS) and by encrypting your Plaid access tokens at rest. Your sign-in token is stored securely on your device, and you can enable an optional Face ID / passcode lock in the app (biometric data never leaves your device). Access to production data is limited to authorized personnel who need it to operate and support the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
We keep your information for as long as your account exists so we can provide the Service. When you delete your account from Settings, we permanently remove your profile, your linked connections (which we also revoke at Plaid), their accounts and transactions, your balance history, and your device tokens, and we delete your identity at our authentication provider. If you leave a household or are removed from one, the accounts and transactions you linked are removed with you. Records of deletions are retained briefly (about 90 days) so that other household members' apps sync the removal, and we may retain limited information where the law requires it.
You can view, correct, and delete much of your data directly in the app, and you can delete your entire account from Settings at any time. To obtain a copy of your data, or to make any of the other requests described below, email privacy@centomoney.com; we will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it, and you may withdraw your consent (which may mean we can no longer provide the Service). Our Privacy Officer is accountable for our handling of personal information and can be reached at privacy@centomoney.com. If you have an unresolved concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If you are in Quebec, you additionally have the right to request that we stop disseminating your information or de-index it in certain circumstances, and the right to receive the computerized personal information you provided in a structured, commonly used technological format (data portability). The person responsible for the protection of personal information (our Privacy Officer) can be reached at privacy@centomoney.com. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to request access to and deletion of it, and to correct inaccurate information. The categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 2 (identifiers such as email, financial information, and internet/technical activity), collected to provide the Service as described in Section 3, and disclosed only to the service providers in Section 5. We do not sell your personal information and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require an opt-out. You may exercise your rights, including through an authorized agent, by emailing privacy@centomoney.com, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Our website does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking, and the app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We use only the strictly necessary storage required to keep you signed in and to run the Service.
Cento is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact privacy@centomoney.com and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
